Close up of a wooden sculpted King Arthur

Wales is a land where history and legend mingle, and waiting for your family at Scolton is a colourful throng of dragons, mythical kings, highwaymen and ghostly shipwrecks, ready to emerge from the trees as you roam.

Discover our unique sculpture trail’s wealth of original artworks, all carved from whole logs by Welsh and British artists, commissioned in 2017 to commemorate Wales’ ‘Year of Legends’. Follow the suggested route through the forest from sculpture to sculpture, or wander freely and find them as you go: either way, the entire family will thrill to encounters with the notorious highwayman and rogue Twm Siôn Cati, King Arthur and his sword Excalibur, the tragic faithful hound Gelert, local heroine Jemima Nicholas, and many more fascinating icons of Welsh history and legend.
