Scolton is actively committed to helping create a sustainable future for Pembrokeshire – and what better way to do so than by providing a home for The Pembrokeshire Beekeepers' Association?
The PBKA, founded in 1919, exists to educate about and encourage beekeeping, and to ensure the ongoing health of Pembrokeshire’s honey bee population for the benefit of future generations and the local environment.
Supported by the Prince’s Countryside Trust and opened in 2014, the Beekeeping Centre comprises:
- The Woodland Apiary, with live hives for training beekeepers
- The Bee Hive exhibition, which among other fascinating exhibits includes a live ‘bee cam’ transmitting straight from one of the hives
- The Honey Kitchen for extracting and bottling honey
A visit to the Centre is highly recommended for all visitors to Scolton. Get up close to the apiary, learn surprising things about these wonderful creatures and their biology, and stock up on delicious fresh Scolton honey from the gift shop!
